Defusing the 1 Timothy 2:12 Bomb

Gail Wallace of The Junia Project tackles Paul’s words in 1 Timothy 2:12— the words that are often used to prevent women from having equal roles in church leadership.  She looks at the translation, context, and interpretive issues surrounding this sentence and the way it is used.

Gail argues that “in light of current biblical scholarship it’s time to acknowledge that there are too many problems with this passage to continue using it as a weapon against women called to church ministry.”
