“Dads Matter” (Video)
For Father’s Day, enjoy this brief video (slightly over two minutes long), produced by Miss Representation.   In it, girls and women of different ages talk about what their dads taught them and how they inspired them. The video ends with these words: “Together we celebrate the dads who empower their daughters to make the world a better place.”  Related Reading:  You might also want to read this story of a father-daughter  friendship and colleagueship  written by a college professor and published in the Huffington Post titled “My Unexpected Research Partner Was My Daughter.” Jeffrey Rubin and his daughter Emma began a research project together when she was 15 years old, and their project became the book, Sustaining Activism: A Brazilian Women’s Movement and a Father-Daughter Collaboration.  For further evidence of the impact of daughters and fathers on each other’s lives, see this statistical chart  from Kevin Drum on the Mother Jones website, which shows that, regardless of political party, those members of Congress who have daughters tend to vote more favorably on issues concerning women.
