“Why I Need Feminism,” Ellie’s poem

March 21, 2014

Known only by the pseudonym, “Ellie,” or “CorporateRockWhore” (CRW), this apparently younger feminist author stirs the pot in a profound way with a poem that has elicited more than 10,000 on-line comments (at last count). As seasoned internet travelers might expect, not all of those comments are positive or as enlightened as they should be. Nevertheless, Ellie refused to be silent or merely watch as the conversation exploded. Yet she also denied the impulse to argue or to take offense at critical respondents. In today’s link readers will discover not only Ellie’s poem, but also some of the insight she gleaned from engaging with the folks who bothered to express themselves. While she does not speak for all feminists everywhere, her perspective on feminism is both instructive and encouraging. Well played, Ellie. Well played.

I need feminism too.
