Steve Chalke talks about “Restoring Confidence in the Bible”

February 21, 2014

British Baptist minister Steve Chalke writes in his article, “Restoring Confidence in the Bible,” that the Bible has “been used to oppress black people. . . gay people . . . women . . .” Chalke invites Christians to engage in a discussion of some important questions.

Writing about the article, Tony Campolo says, “[Chalke] isn’t saying anything that hasn’t already challenged the Church. What is unique with him is that he is somebody within the Church with a deep commitment to Christ who is raising the questions and stating the issues in the way that he has.”

In this 10-minute video, Chalke introduces us to his article.
