The Humble Gathering: CFT’s Presentation Series

Our current series theme:

“WALK Humbly, ACT Courageously”

God has told you, human one, what is good and what the Lord requires from you:
to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8
(CEB)

What is The Humble Gathering?

The Humble Gathering is an ongoing series of virtual events, held the third Sunday evening of each month. Each event consists of a video presentation followed by an opportunity for participants to interact, in real time, with each other and the presenter using their computer or phone. Participants in The Humble Gathering pay a sliding-scale subscription fee; no one is turned away due to lack of funds.

The presentation events use basic technologies that are accessible to nearly everyone. If you have a way to watch a video and a phone, even a landline or a flip phone, you can participate! If you have an internet-connected computer with a webcam, all the better.

The Humble Gathering is designed to connect, supporteducate, and celebrate Christian feminists from many traditions!

Eliminating Boundaries
(Technical and Financial)

Our goal in creating The Humble Gathering is to make an online presentation series without boundaries. We’ve done our best to make the technology accessible, so no one finds themselves on the wrong side of a digital divide. There is special tech support available for those who need assistance, and we held a special introductory session to sure everyone got connected. No internet? No problem. We’ll figure something out that works for you.

We are also committed to making sure that you can afford to attend The Humble Gathering events.  There are different levels of subscription options available from $25 a month (benefactor) to $5 (student or low income).  Please get in touch if you have questions!

Donate to The Humble Gathering

Your donations help make sure that The Humble Gathering is accessible for everyone, our tech support workers have the tools they need to make participation easy for everyone, and our presenters are compensated for sharing their knowledge.

Series Summary

The Humble Gathering was created to replace the in-person CFT Gathering which was scheduled for July, 2020, in Cincinnati, Ohio.  We had to cancel that event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we saw an opportunity to put something together that could still bring people together to learn and share in Christian feminist fellowship.

Date and Time

The presentations take place online at 8:30 pm Eastern (7:30 pm Central, 6:30 pm Mountain, and 5:30 pm Pacific) every third Sunday of the month.

What Happens

Each evening presentation begins with all participants watching a pre-recorded video on a private website.  The video is pre-recorded to make it as easy as possible for members to access.  When the video is over, we take a short break and then begin a live question and answer session via Zoom.  The Q and A session lasts approximately 60 minutes.  The Zoom meeting remains open for sometime after that, to enable continued group interaction or personal chats.

What does my registration subscription include?

Your registration includes access to all presentation sessions, continued access to the pre-recorded video presentations after they air, tech support, any presentation materials sent out by individual presenters, and even access to some special events we’ll be adding throughout the year.

This is Not Rocket Science

The Humble Gathering is designed for everyone. No matter how fluent you are with technology (or not!), we can make accommodations that will allow you to participate along with everyone else.

Recommended capabilities include a computer with internet access, a webcam, and a microphone.  The computer and your browser should be up-to-date enough enough to be able to play a YouTube video and participate in a Zoom meeting.

Minimum capabilities include having a means of playing a video recording via a DVD player and a phone.
