“Talk of religious liberty is poisonous nonsense unless it includes — and emphasizes — the rights of those whose religious liberty is most often denied and most often threatened. Otherwise we’re not talking about religious liberty at all — but about hegemony and white Christian supremacy.”

This quote is from Fred Clark’s Slacktivist blog.  He’s discussing a frightening scene that happened recently at a Phoenix mosque when around 250 armed anti-Muslim demonstrators showed up to confront the congregation. Read the report in the Washington Post.

Read Fred’s post, “‘They made me feel welcome.’”

Their work draws attention to: the ongoing trauma experienced by women and LGBTQIA people in this “Christian” society; Christ/Sophia’s desire that each of us move deeper into our own practice of non-violence; and the desperate need to move away from an androcentric conception of God.
