“WALK Humbly, ACT Courageously”
God has told you, human one, what is good and what the Lord requires from you:
to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8 (CEB)
What is The Humble Gathering?
The Humble Gathering is a series of virtual events, held the third Sunday evening of each month. Each event consists of a video presentation followed by an opportunity for participants to interact, in real time, with each other and the presenter using their computer or phone.
The presentation events use basic technologies that are accessible to nearly everyone. If you have a way to watch a video and a phone, even a landline or a flip phone, you can participate! If you have an internet-connected computer with a webcam, all the better.
The Humble Gathering has been designed to connect us all.
(Technical and Financial)
Our goal in creating The Humble Gathering was to make an online presentation series without boundaries. We’ve done our best to make the technology accessible, so no one finds themselves on the wrong side of a digital divide. There will be special tech support available for those who need assistance, and we’ll hold a couple of test sessions to make sure everyone can get connected. No internet? No problem. We’ll figure something out that works for you.
We are also committed to making sure that you can afford to attend. If the $19.95 session fee, or the $189.00 series subscription fee is not affordable, just drop us a line, and let us know what you can afford to pay. We’ll make up the rest, no questions asked.
Donate to The Humble Gathering
Your donations of support help make sure that anyone who wishes to participate in The Humble Gathering can do so, regardless of their financial situation. Donations also go to make sure our tech support workers have the tools they need to make participation easy for everyone.
The Humble Gathering was created to replace the in-person CFT Gathering scheduled for July in Cincinnati, Ohio, which had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Date and Time
The presentations take place online at 8:30 pm Eastern (5:30 pm Pacific) every third Sunday of the month, starting July 19, 2020.
Each evening presentation begins with all participants watching a pre-recorded video on a private web page. The video is pre-recorded to make it as easy as possible for members to access. When the video is over, we take a 10 minute break and then begin a question and answer session via Zoom. The Q and A session lasts approximately 45 minutes. The Zoom meeting will remain open for sometime after that, to enable continued group interaction or personal chats.
What does my registration fee include?
Your registration includes access to all presentation sessions, continued access to the pre-recorded video presentations after they air, tech support, any presentation materials sent out by individual presenters, and even access to some special events we’ll be adding throughout the year.
This is Not Rocket Science
CFT’s presentation series is designed for everyone. No matter how fluent one is with technology (or not!), we can make accommodations that will allow you to participate along with everyone else.
Recommended capabilities include a computer with internet access, a webcam, and a microphone. The computer and your browser should be up-to-date enough enough to be able to play a YouTube video and participate in a Zoom meeting.
Minimum capabilities include having a means of playing a video recording via a DVD player and a phone.
