Honoring All Women on Mother’s Day

May 10, 2015

On this Mother’s Day, perhaps we can all take a moment to recognize that the holiday is not about smiles and happy times for many women.  Being (or not being) a mother often comes with pain and grief, and Mother’s Day can leave many women feeling left out and forgotten.  Perhaps we can spend a few moments praying for and reaching out to the women in our lives who may be feeling alone on this day, and offer them the comfort of being seen and remembered.

Here’s a post by Dr. Christy Sim honoring those women.  Read “A Litany for Women Who Suffer on Mother’s Day.”

Lē Weaver identifies as a non-binary writer, musician, and feminist spiritual seeker. Their work draws attention to: the ongoing trauma experienced by women and LGBTQIA people in this “Christian” society; Christ/Sophia’s desire that each of us move deeper into our own practice of non-violence; and the desperate need to move away from an androcentric conception of God.
