Elyssa Salinas-Lazarski is a doctoral student studying theology and ethics at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago. She has her B.A. in Theatre from Valparaiso University and a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She formerly worked in Hunger Education at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Her academic focus is on sex and body positive theology utilizing her Latina and Lutheran identities. Alongside her studies, she works as a teaching assistant in the Theology Department.

A Year of Anti-Racism Work

"We lose our zeal for justice as (our) lives return to normal, and we get busy with jobs, families, and our own (real) problems. But anti-racism work needs to be ongoing if it is to be effective. We must be in this for the long haul, even when the issues don’t dominate our newsfeeds, and for that, we must pace ourselves, educate ourselves, work on ourselves, and take concrete action."
