April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. CFT’s Link of the Day blog will feature a variety of posts about this issue during the month.
While politicians and talking heads try to convince us that the greatest danger to our safety is posed by those people who look or worship differently than we do, the reality is that the biggest threat to women’s safety is actually sexual violence perpetrated by the men we know.
“Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.” (Faith Trust Institute)
“In the United States, 1 in 5 women have experienced completed or attempted rape…” (CDC)
“Approximately 73% of rape victims know their assailants.” (Faith Trust Institute)
