Today starts Transgender Awareness Week (#TransWeek).  Here on the Link of the Day blog we’ll be featuring articles of interest to trans people and those who love and support them.

In searching for trans Christian resources to feature this week, I typed the words “transgender” and “Christian” into Google and was disheartened to find one third of the first page results were from anti-trans Christian organizations.  One was even an article from Focus on the Family’s website with the title “Understanding Transgenderism.”

Transgender is not an “ism.” GLAAD explains this best: “This is a term used by anti-transgender activists to dehumanize transgender people and reduce who they are to ‘a condition.'”

Clearly we trans Christians and supporters need to push a lot more trans-affirming articles out onto the web!

For this first post in the series, let’s get familiar with some of the issues, general resources, and terminology.

Lē Weaver identifies as a non-binary writer, musician, and feminist spiritual seeker. Their work draws attention to: the ongoing trauma experienced by women and LGBTQIA people in this “Christian” society; Christ/Sophia’s desire that each of us move deeper into our own practice of non-violence; and the desperate need to move away from an androcentric conception of God.
